The 2011 Centennial Cyclocross Crusade was a huge success! We had over 225 racers compete in 7 races under cool and beautiful Roswell skies. We earned over $2,000 for teachers. My army of volunteers was second to none. I was really quite speechless about the level of support and effort from our adult and teen volunteers.

Most of the feedback I received after the race was positive and there were some modification suggestions if we do it again next year. I already have approval to hold the race on campus next year so stay tuned!

I hope you are too!

Course has been revised a little bit to make it a tad longer. Works out to be about 3km. I took out a second run up for a flat barrier section. I hope you brought your road legs, this is going to be a fast course. Take it easy through the grass-road transitions. I have about 4 ramp areas and they are all 9 feet wide. Don’t fall into the pond. I am calling the off-camber series of 180s on the hill, “gans stront” hill. Translate it and figure it out. Students will understand.

Remember to turn your clocks back on Saturday night!

 

 

Moe’s Totally Rocks

Moe’s on Holcomb Bridge Road has stepped up to feed our 60 or so volunteers. They are providing burrito meals at no charge for us on both days. Thank You Moe’s! Our students love your food!

Junior Class Cookout Menu

Looks like the Junior Class will fire up the grill on Sunday. They will be offering the following:

$4.00 hot dog plate

$5.50 hamburger plate

$6.00 garden burger plate

There will also be sides available. Look for them on campus during the races Sunday!

 

Women Take Notice–Van Michael Prizes Just For You!

The Centennial Cyclocross Crusade will feature some prizes specifically for our female racers. In addition to the normal women’s CX 1/2/3 payout we will have Van Michael Salon gift certificates for the top 3: $100 (1st), $50 (2nd) and $25 (3rd). We also have the women’s CX 4 covered and will be offering gift certificates 3 deep as well: $70 (1st), $50 (2nd) and $25 (3rd).

If that was not enough, we have first lap premes for both races in the amount of $60 each. Be the first woman across the finish on the first lap and walk away with style.

Be sure you focus on this as you trudge up the Van Michael “Bad Hair Day” run-up.

2011 Ride Release Form and Volunteer Form

Below is attached the 2011 rider release form which all racers need completed on race day. It is a typable form so you can complete it ahead of time, print it, and bring it to registration.

If you are volunteering at the race, a volunteer liability release form must be completed. If you are over 18 you fill out the fornt and top half of the back. If youa re under 18, fill out the back of the form. Students can also pick one up in J-106 (my room).

Welcome MIX 1 to the CHS Cyclocross Crusade

Mix 1 out of Boulder, Colorado is a huge sponsor of cycling in Georgia and we are happy to have them on board as a product sponsor for the race. Mix 1 is a pre/post performance protein shake or snack/meal supplement made of all natural ingredients and soy/gluten/lactose free. Mix 1 contains antioxidents equivalent to 3 servings of fruits/vegies and is a good source of healthy fat.

Mix 1 will “mix it up” in the barrier section of the course, they will provide samples at the race, provide race winners with free product and provide free samples for Centennial faculty to try.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Centennial High Cyclocross Crusade is looking for 1-2 more sponsors for the race. As you can see in the photo below, I have a few advertising spots open on the podium background (where top 3 will stand to accept awards). Sponsors may also be promoted through social media, this website and at the race. A great opportunity for local Roswell and Georgia sponsors to get exposure to around 1900 families at CHS and so many more via social media all while helping teachers who in turn will help students.
